Community Park Programs

Ages 5 & 6 T-BALL

FULL PARENT PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED
AT THIS LEVEL FOR SAFETY AND FUN

The season is from the end of April to the end of June. Players receive a hat, a trophy and a team picture. The uniform is returned to the coach at the end of the season. The games are played at Kirkness Park and Castledowns Park. All players are placed on a team before the season starts. There are usually 6-8 teams.

There is one game per week and one scheduled practice per week. Game days are Tuesday and Thursday. In addition, some coaches schedule practices on the weekends. Game time is 6:30 p.m. to about 7:45 p.m. The players should arrive at 6:00 p.m. to stretch and warm up.

Everyone plays in the field and everyone in the line up bats. No player sits on the bench. All the players participate in the game.

Ages 7 & 8 MACHINE PITCH

The games are played at Kirkness Park and Castledowns Park. All players are placed on a team before the season starts. There are usually 6-8 teams.

There are 2 games per week scheduled on Monday and Wednesday. In addition, some coaches schedule practices on the weekends. Game time is 6:30 p.m. to about 7:45 p.m. The players should arrive at 6:00 p.m. to stretch and warm up. The game is played with a manually operated pitching machine and a softer baseball.

Everyone plays in the field and everyone in the lineup bats. No player sits on the bench. All the players participate in the game.

Ages 9 &10 MINORS (AAA)

The season is from the end of April to the end of June. Players receive a hat, team picture and trophy. The uniform is returned to the coach at the end of the season. The players are evaluated at practice sessions before the season starts. After these sessions, a draft is held to disperse the players.

The Division is comprised of a minimum of 4 teams. The teams play on Tuesday and Thursday and practice on the weekends. Games are played at Kirkness Park at 151 Avenue and 30 Street and Castledowns Park located at 158 Avenue and 115 Street. The players are expected to be at the appropriate baseball diamond by 6:00 p.m. for warm-up exercises and the games start at 6:30 p.m. The games end at about 8:15 p.m. Every player on the lineup card bats, even if they did not play in the field. No player may sit on the bench for more than one inning in a row.

At the completion of the regular season, all players have the opportunity to tryout for the ALL-STAR teams. There are extra games and practices associated with these teams. ALL-STAR players will play in the citywide Little League tournament in July to determine the City champions. The winners will then travel to the Prairie Championship Tournament where they will compete against other Alberta Little League winners. The winner of the Prairie Championship will be the Little League Alberta Champion.

Ages 11 & 12 MAJORS

The season is from the end of April to the end of June. Players receive a hat, team picture and trophy. The uniform is returned to the coach at the end of season. The players are evaluated at practice sessions before the season starts. After these sessions, a draft is held to disperse the players.

Every player on the lineup card bats, in order, even if they did not play in the field. No player sits on the bench for more than one inning in a row.

The winners will then travel to the Prairie Championship Tournament where they will compete against other Alberta Little League winners. The winner of the Prairie Championship will then travel to the Canadian Championship Tournament where they will compete against other Provincial Little League winners. The winner of the Canadian Championship will then travel to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where they will represent Canada in the Little League World Series.

Ages 13 & 14 JUNIORS

The season is from the end of April to the end of June. Players receive a hat and team picture. The uniform is returned to the coach at the end of the season. The players are evaluated at practice sessions before the season starts. After these sessions, the coaches select the team.

The team plays in an inter-city league against Millwoods Park, East Park and Confederation Park. Games are once or twice a week with one or two practices a week. There are usually 6-8 teams. Home diamond is at Castledowns Park located at 158 Avenue and 115 Street. The players are expected to be at the appropriate baseball diamond by 6:00 pm for warm-up exercises with games starting at 6:30 pm. The games end at about 8:15 to 8:30 pm. Every player on the lineup card bats, in order, even if they did not play in the field. No player sits on the bench for more than two innings in a row.

At the completion of the regular season, all players (aged 13 and 14, Juniors and Canadians) are given the opportunity to tryout for the ALL-STAR team. There are extra games and practices associated with this team. ALL-STAR players will play in the citywide tournament in July to determine the City champions. The winners will then travel to the Prairie Championship Tournament where they will compete against other Alberta Little League winners. The winner of the Prairie Championship will then travel to the Canadian Championship Tournament where they will compete against other Provincial Little League winners. The winner of the Canadian Championship will then travel to the Junior Little League World Series in the United States where they will represent Canada in the tournament.

Ages 15 & 16 SENIORS

Ages 13, 14, 15, & 16 CANADIANS

This league is not as competitive as the Junior and Senior League. Many of the players are first year players and who want to learn to play the game of baseball. An emphasis is placed on skill development by the coaches and many of the younger players move up in the following year to the more competitive Junior and Senior leagues.

The season is from the end of April to the end of June. Players receive a hat and team picture. The uniform is returned to the coach at the end of the season. The players on these teams normally are placed on these teams after trying out for the Junior and Senior teams.

The teams play in an inter-city league against Millwoods Park, East Park, and Confederation Park. There are usually 4 teams. Games are once or twice a week with one or two practices a week. Home diamond is at Castledowns Park located at 158 Avenue and 115 Street. The players are expected to be at the appropriate baseball diamond by 6:00 pm for warm-up exercises with games starting at 6:30 pm. The games end at about 8:15 to 8:30 pm.

There is no ALL-Star program for these players but they may elect to tryout for their age appropriate team.

Minors and Majors games will have at least 1 qualified Umpire supplied by Community Park Little League. Juniors, Seniors and Canadians will have at least two qualified Umpires supplied by the home league.
